Born in Alaska, Casey Messer moved to southern New Mexico at age 10, where she graduated from high school in Alamogordo. She started her television career at university KRWG News 22 covering the weather.

Messer graduated from New Mexico State University with a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication. After graduation, Messer hosted a family lifestyle show, “Platinum Lifestyle,” which aired on KOB-TV, NBC’s New Mexico affiliate.

In 2007, she won Miss New Mexico USA and ran for Miss America in Los Angeles.
In 2008, she beat nearly 100 candidates to become VJ for CW affiliate My50-TV. It was her work at My50-TV that caught the attention of REELZ CEO Stan E. Hubbard, who offered her a hosting position at NBC.
