Virginia Beach – Dylan M. Rowell, 19, passed away unexpectedly on January 31, 2022 in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He was born on October 11, 2002 in Norfolk, Virginia. He is survived by his parents Joseph W. Rowell and Dorothy C. Rowell, brother Parker A. Rowell, sister, brother-in-law and nephew Courtney R. Ricksecker, Bryan Ricksecker, Chandler Ricksecker and Josh Ricksecker. Grandfather Arthur H. Quarnstrom, Jr., grandmother Ann Ellis, aunts Beth Coffield and Sandy Burnett, and uncles and aunts J.W. Rowell and Caroline Rowell. His grandmother, Marie K. Quarnstrom, died before him.
Dylan attended Norfolk University and graduated from Princess Anne High School in 2020, where he was a member of the Fabulous Marching Cavaliers and swimming team. He plays tuba, clarinet and bass clarinet. He is a freshman majoring in international business at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where he is a member of the club’s swim team.
Growing up, he played ice hockey in Iceland and cold ponds, swam with various club and community swim teams, and volunteered with the Virginia Beach SPCA. During his summers, he works as a lifeguard and caretaker at Ocean Breeze Waterpark and Tijuana Plains. He loves all kinds of music, all animals, especially dogs, and has a wonderful sense of humor.
In his short life, Dylan has meant far more than this brief obituary can convey. He will always live in our hearts and memories. Just know that we all have a special guardian angel watching over us right now.
